The Sheriff's Race

Although I think Kim Guadagno is a great candidate for sheriff, I still would have liked the County Committee to choose. The screening committee serves at the request of the chairman, therefore it behooves them to give him what he wants. He wanted Kim as the candidate. To ensure Kim to win in the convention a classic technique is to put up the strong candidate and a qualified but weaker one. This way when the voting is done the strong one is the winner.

Interestingly enough, there was another candidate that had some very strong credentials. This candidate was from a town where the chairwoman had made some public statements against the county chairman. Did this in anyway impact the decision, I hope not. If there were so many qualified candidates why only two, and why for the freeholder seat three. I am confused, the process is riddled with inconsistency.

The County Committee is a group of ELECTED officials. There job is to select candidates. They represent the party (either D or R). They are the correct answer, not a hand chosen screening committee. I suggest they all show up next weekend and demand change. The leadership of the party should feel comfortable with the county committees decision. After all... as a great coach once said "The cream always rises to the top"
